Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of that year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
